Is 850W enough for RX 9070 XT?

Planning my next upgrade and looking at the upcoming Radeon RX 9070 XT. I currently have a Corsair RM850x (2021 model, 850W Gold). My CPU is a Ryzen 7 7800X3D with an AIO, 32GB DDR5, and 3 M.2 NVMe drives.

Will 850W be sufficient to handle the transient power spikes, or should I step up to a 1000W ATX 3.0 power supply before upgrading the GPU?

Yes, a quality 850W Gold rated power supply (Seasonic, Corsair RMx, be quiet!) is more than enough. The 9070 XT is expected to draw around 280-320W peak, and with an efficient AM5 CPU total system load will barely touch 500W in gaming.

Your Corsair RM850x will easily handle the 7800X3D + RX 9070 XT. The 7800X3D draws ~55-75W during gaming, motherboard + peripherals ~50W. Even if the 9070 XT averages 320W with 450W 10ms transient spikes, you will stay well within the RM850x OCP trigger threshold (which sits around 1050W on that specific CWT platform). Save your money for games!

Agreed with @copperboard2648. Just make sure you use two separate PCIe 8-pin cables from the power supply rather than daisy-chaining a single pigtail cable. That prevents connector heating over long sessions.
